Using tandoor

What is tandoor?
Wikipedia has a definition: The term tandoor  refers to a variety of ovens, the most commonly known is a cylindrical clay or metal oven used in cooking and baking.
In my place we have the devices with the same idea. Russian oven made of clay bricks can be used as tandoor too, but it's huge, and it needs a lot of firewood to manage cooking.
That's why when you have shortage of firewood use small tandoor is a better idea.
When we were camping last time, we had a small tandoor and free time to use it.
The idea is very simple, you make the fire inside the clay barrel, and maintain good fire inside it for awhile:

When the tandoor is hot enough (I determine that by color of its walls), like that:

After that you can put the things inside.
Tandoor is good for everything: vegetables, meat, bread, because of stable temperature, and predictable behavior it's a pleasure to cook with it.
There are many different devices to keep things inside. We used this metal bucket:

We put meat inside, and close the cover.
Few moments later I should to keep boys and don't allow them open it, the smile was so good ;)

Because of the way to transfer heat (slowly, many infrared emissions) the dish is usually delicious.

Did you use such devices for cooking?
How do you cook during camping?
